If you do remove the DC equipment that means that if they do get cascaded back down to the south they could not operate on the DC third rail any more.

The "DC equipment" is pretty much just the shoes, which could be put back on if needed, and they're not picking up wear. Also, if there happens to be any debris alongside the track, they're not there to hit it.

I've done an emergency stop on a crush-loaded 158 (with 2 155's attached) full of drunk people. In no way would I have described it as dangerous. A few people wobbled/swayed as we came to a halt, but it wasn't carnage by any means.

I believe if I was drunk on a train I would have done some wobbling and swaying when it was standing in the platform
But nicely put.

An emergency stop on a train full of people, DRUNK people, is hardly a sensible comment.
Drunk people generally seem to be less prone to injury and if the train is full chances are you'll just upset someone rather than injure them.

The incident at Sudbury involved a 156 colliding with a lorry only partially laden and had some serious injuries. 1 the conductor who was standing and 2 people went into the tables and got bruising.

Drunk people are not less prone to Injury , they just don't feel it until morning , if what you are saying could be true the sensible thing is to get drunk before boarding, just in case, cheers, mines a large one ;)

Maybe you should change your name from Bright Boy to Big Boy then.

Is it not the case that drunk people are more bodily relaxed as a result of their intoxication and do not tense their muscles in anticipation of an intended/unintended sudden stop?

I was trying to inject a lighter side to this discussion ;)

If they had very light injuries such as bumps and bruises, they would be less painful and show less of a bruise when drunk or relaxed in any other way, however if they hit a table edge in the midriff at 40mph, do you think relaxed muscle will make a difference?

5Z19 Allerton to Wolverton put in the system for late Monday (15/12) evening and 5Z20 Wolverton to Allerton for early Tuesday (16/12) morning, so another set swap happening. Usual disclaimers, but if they go ahead I'd take a guess at 361 moving to Wolverton and either/both of 364/365 (having been refreshed) moving to Allerton.

Did these moves go ahead?

Not Northern related, but TSGN 319443 reported released from Wolverton, but did anything replace it?

Don't know, but an 8-car set did arrive at Bletchley P5 from the south and go into the sidings at (I think) 1838.

Edit: Sorry that was a Thameslink set, wrong thread.

RTT does record a movement as running to Allerton. Doesn't record whether it was one or two sets.

I think the only date that was ever aired was last Sunday - although of course, just one or two gaps... :'(

Will the Liverpool lime street to Warrington back via St Helens be run using 319s

Don't see why not, the Victoria/Wigan/Warrington BQ services all interwork, also Airport and Blackpool.
Some people on here think the Warrington service will be diverted to Victoria, but there's been nothing to confirm that yet.

The Warrington diagrams run separately now as far as I know. I had heard the rumours while go that a service would eventually run Vic - Warrington BQ and then to Lime St.

Is that Manchester Victoria-Warrington Bank Quay-Liverpool Lime Street service projection not a rather long way round if such a service is what you alluded?

I was under the impression that the Warrington Bank Quay service won't exist and be replaced with another Manchester Victoria to Liverpool Lime Street service, with Warrington Bank Quay being served by the North Wales services.

Can someone confirm this please.

Yes, if you're travelling end to end, but no-one would use it to get from Manchester to Liverpool. It would improve connections to Warrington and to WCML services from intermediate stations, though. Eccles or St. Helens Junction to Warrington and change for London or Glasgow. In effect it's a Manchester-Warrington and a Warrington-Liverpool service stuck together, like the London-Glasgow via Birmingham train.

As such it could run as separate Manchester-Warrington and Warrington-Liverpool shuttles, whichever works better for the timetable and efficient use of stock and crews.

Naturally all of this, if that is what is happening. But the more prevalent theory on here has been that MCV - LIV will simply go to 2tph all stations? I think that would have more benefits personally.

As previously stated a Victoria-Warrington BQ-Lime Street service would not generate through passengers as there are already two trains an hour direct - one all stations and the other non stop. The intermediate stations in GM generate few passengers - Patricroft even in peak hour would be lucky to have more than six per teain, whilst Eccles whilst busier is also served by the Metrolink which goes to more popular areas in Manchester than Victoria.

It was included in the Northern Hub document but that doesn't give any expected dates. TfGM have been pushing for extra services at Eccles for a while, they originally wanted the Airport-Liverpool services to stop there but that idea was rejected.

As previously stated a Victoria-Warrington BQ-Lime Street service

It wouldn't go via Warrington though.

Eccles heavy rail station and Eccles Metrolink station are some distance away from each other, with only the name of the town in common.

And Eccles to city centre by Metrolink is painfully slow - about 25 mins.,, compared with about 8 mins. by train to Vctoria.

Outside the peak hours, the Liverpool Lime St - Warrington Bank Quay service carries very few passengers between Earlestown & Warrington - most trains are almost empty. Two stopping trains per hour between Lime St. & Manchester would be far more useful.

A cynic, or realist, might say that Eccles was only on Metrolink because it meant funding would be made available due to Eccles being in places a deprived area, when what it was built for was to connect Salford Quays to Metrolink (which it does quite well). Eccles passengers are better off on the bus or train - cheaper and quicker.

That said, I went for a ride on the Oldham Loop a few weeks ago, and was surprised to note that there were quite a lot of passengers from Rochdale despite how long and slow a route it is.
