Is there anyway I can find out what class of train will be operating on Northern Rail Services from Newcastle to Carlilse. I really do not like travelling on Pacer 142 and prefer to travel on 156 Super Sprinters

AFAIK the semi-fast service is free of 142's.

Alternatively, a 185 or Voyager up to Edinburgh and then a 225 down to Newcastle is another way of avoiding them!

I joke of course! ;)

I was on the 9.22 Newcastle to Carlisle which is one the quickest journeys and was operated by a Pacer. I have even looked at going to Leeds and then taking the historic Settle route up to Carlilse

Get the 685 bus. Nice journey across the Tyne Valley.

If you catch a train which continues to Glasgow it'll operated by a Scotrail class 156 by a Northern crew and a Scotrail crew will take over the service at Carlisle.
