Yes, all the best to everybody. But it does get boring after a while, believe you me.

Yes, the rules and regs is the best part of 15 weeks (?) doing that five days a week certainly would get boring!

Welcome on board everyone heading to Bolton.
You'll love it.
More to learn that you think but put the work in and you'll do ok.

See you there maybe.

Agreed, probably more hard work than some people realise. Don't be of the opinion that 'you've cracked it' just because you are on the training course. People can and have failed. If you put the work in you will be ok.

Buckle up!

Today marked the end of my classroom based learning, barring some simulator training and driving on the private line next week, I'm done and ready for my A&V exam.

Llama is correct, the course is infinitely more challenging and intense than most will imagine, getting the job was a walk in the park by comparison.

Having said that, it's been an excellent experience.

What assessments do you have to do on the conductor course? Is there a final assessment at the end what you need to pass? Knowing my luck i would get that far and end up failing that then be out of a job!

Numerous assessments throughout the course, I have one tommorow infact!

Best of luck with the next phase Sunday.
I can't believe how quickly the course passes. It seems like only yesterday we were all talking about the Group Bourdon tests!

Wait til you start your practical handling hours. 230 hours sounds a lot when you are staring at the thick end of it. But what if I told you that by the end of the first week (four days) you might be more than 10% through?!
Get yourself some alcohol hand wash, you will be glad of that. Enjoy, and listen to what your DTM and instructor will tell you at the beginning of it all, and make sure you keep reading your stuff all the way through your handling - it is your responsibility to keep your rules and traction knowledge up to speed for your FCA (passout), whilst amassing complete route knowledge to the level of your instructor's.
This is also where you hope that everything goes belly-up, ie when you are out driving with us so you can see how to deal with it first hand. But guess what, it never usually does, until you are out on your own at least.
You will form good friendships at the depot too, usually with your DTM, instructor and plenty of others. Every depot has a broad spectrum - the vast majority of drivers are thoroughly decent, there are one or two rascals and a sprinkling of space cadets as you would expect anywhere.
Happy journeys.

Yeah some do go to Picc but it is usually a much lower number compared to Vic. I personally think Vic need a break from further recruitment to let them catch up.
