Northern Rail recruitment process?

Hi all, I saw a job advertised yesterday for a Train Station Operative with Northern Rail (which had already been advertised since Monday) and started to fill out the online application form. I'm a bit rusty in applying for jobs (been in the same one for 13 years) so it took me longer than anticipated and I have only just finished it tonight. The only trouble is, once I submitted the application, it came up with a message straight away saying that the post has now closed To be fair it did say on the advert that the position would be closed once enough applications have been received so totally my own fault. Guess I under estimated how popular the jobs within the rail industry are :-/ What I'm now wondering is, will they still take my application into consideration for any future rolls or will I have to start again? Any advice would be gratefully received. Feeling rather disappointed in myself at the moment

Its ok guys, I think I've found out the answer to my own question. Just been on their website again to review my application and it says "not submitted" It obviously didn't go through to them with the position being closed so I guess they wont be taking it into consideration at all. Worked blinking hard on that too :roll: Oh well, registered with them for vacancy alerts now so will be able to get in early next time... That thread was a bit of a non starter wasn't it

Can you copy and save your answers onto your computer, it will save you a lot of typing next time.

Northern's one saving grace is the expensive EngageATS software on their recruitment site... once a candidate has inputted details, any future applications will automatically be pre-filled with the data from the first application.

That's great news, thanks. Just have to live in hope now that another suitable position will come up soon! And thanks 455driver too, great idea. I was just about to copy and paste everything until I read the next reply hehe

Email them and request it is considered!! I had trouble with my system when I tired applying for a vacancy earlier in the year and because the application was completed in full they changed the status to submitted!! It's a long shot but nothing ventured nothing gained right!! good luck!
