Northern Rail distance / time calculation.

Hi all,

Does anyone have any insider knowledge / experience of what program Northern use to calculate your distance from depot?

I'm 57 mins away according to google maps - so its very touch and go if they would consider the application.

Recently started with a candidate who was about 150 miles / 3 hours from depot (Milton Keynes to Manchester). Go Figure! They had to relocate in time for the start date though.

Northern are a strange lot! I kept getting turned down for jobs even though I told them I'd relocate from Newcastle as soon as I was offered a job, yet a mate of mine who lived in Edinburgh got a start as a driver based at Leeds!

I think it depends on the amount of vacancies and how much they want you!

Its just that they don't let you explain anywhere an their application that you will relocate. But I suppose if you've got thousands applying its a quick and easy way to whittle the numbers down - unless someone really stands out from the crowd.
