I got one of these Vouchers in the post after putting a complaint into the firm what am i ment to do with it and is there any restrictions (such as time) i should know about?

What are you meant to do with it? Use it on any Northern rail service to your hearts content. I can't help you with the restrictions, however.

If there's no time restrictions printed on the ticket, or detailed in the T&Cs provided to you, I think it's safe to assume there aren't any.

Completely unlimited travel on NT services. No time restrictions on it either. Keep in mind though, that unlike other tickets, NT day vouchers are not valid until 0430 the following day; their validity expires at midnight.

If the date isn't filled in prior to travel, they can be withdrawn, so make sure that's done too.

You tear along the perofration ( between the letter and the voucher and fill the date and month before you board the first train on the day you wish to use it and just show it to staff when they ask for tickets

I'd recommend cutting it, as it rips fairly easily.

Keep hold of the letter.

Sometimes they give you a voucher which is either valid for one person on two different days or for two people on the same day. If that's the case and you want to use it for two people on the same day then fill in the date in both available boxes, if you want to use it for one person on two different dates then only fill in the date once.

Yep - all you need to do is fill in the date in the box and show that itself to staff like you would any other ticket.

It says valid for 4 days but I only need it for 2 (it expires quite soon), so I can just fill in the date twice if I wanted to take a friend with me too? So basically 2 people for 2 days

I think it would be very risky to attempt to use it in that way unless it explicitly states that it can. A starting point would be to contact the company that issued the voucher, and ask if it can be used in that way, but don't be surprised if the answer is no.

Yep, well there was a tiny bit of help from Merseyrail in getting to Chester!
And Chathill? Never heard of it

Chathill is a scary place (at 1900 in October with no station lighting and trains going full speed through, that you can only identify at range by the headlights, whilst waiting for the stopper - No announcements), having been there only once on what seems to be my longest (distance) day on Northern (using only Northern).
