Hi

Can anyone tell me where the conductor training centre is for people who will be working at Skipton?

Also, a possible start date of 30th September has been muted and I have to serve a months notice to my current employer so what I want to know is when will I be called up for a medical should the start date above be correct?

Thanks in advance

I think it's in York for that area. The training centre for the west is in Bolton, which is luckily where I live.

As for the medical, I actually had mine after my start date! Started training in February and went for my medical in March. Am close to passing out fully now - loads of routes to learn at Victoria! But I keep getting pulled off route learning to work trains. But am loving it though - best decision I ever made, so good luck with yours.

Thanks for your reply mate.

Glad to hear things have gone well, regarding the medical I have one query.

I have no reason to believe that I will fail the medical, the only thing I have had wrong with me is a little back pain last year that has now completely resolved, the thing that concerns me more is them offering me a job and asking me to take the Medical after this.

I'm currently employed and it's abit risky giving this job up when there's a slight chance of me failing the medical.

Am I worrying for no reason?

Also, were you on hold and if so how long for? I've been on hold for 8 weeks so far, feels like forever lol.

No, you're worrying for no reason. All they do is a basic mobility test, think it was standing on tiptoes and moving arms, that sort of thing. Nothing too in depth!

My story - applied Jan 2012, interview and assessment Sept 2012, was told there was a course in November, got an email saying I hadn't been taken on this course but my interview result was valid for six months, heard there was another course in Feb 2013, but heard nothing until a week before they wanted me to start, which wasn't a problem to me being self employed at the time. So yeah, was very drawn out - don't think organisation is their strong point but they are still good to work for.

Good luck with yours mate.

Cheers for the info, I told them I need a months notice so hope they stick to it, a weeks notice is no good.
