Actually, I saw one passing through York on the 17th, seemed to be on revenue service (or might have just been signal checked). Too far away to get the number.

Grand Central have currently got one of the First Group "swirl" liveried 180s on loan, rather than the darker purple "swirl" vinyls that were worn by the three units on loan to Northern, so it'll have been that that you saw at York. I think it's 180102.

All 3 Northern 180s were stripped of the vinyl before they left and were in plain blue livery although 180103 retained its Northern lettering. They ran to Old Oak Common in 2 lots on 14 and 15 December 2011.

The ex London Midland 150s have been cast far and wide across the North West. You have as much chance of your service being an LM 150 as it could be a 156. Where ever a Northern 150 can turn up, so can an ex-LM one. From my experience in the last couple of weeks they have been working on Manchester area services heading out to Blackpool, Clitheroe, Chester, Liverpool etc. They have also been appearing on the Blackpool South-Colne circuit fairly regularly.

Aye, I use the Colne-Blackpool South trains twice-three times a week, the last 10 trips I have made have been made up of 50% ex-LM 150s and 50% Northern 142s. Not seen a Northern 150 for a while!

On Saturday, I saw an ex-LM 150 was sat in both Warrington Bank Quay (late morning / midday) and Wigan North Western (late evening) with a Liverpool stopping service, still green but with Northern logos. Quite a nice combination to be fair!

Probably right, someone on the platform swore it was a Northern Unit, but then they kept insisting that Oliver Cromwell was going to Crewe (when it went to Carnforth).

You've cheered me up anyway, kicking myself that I seemed to have missed photographing possibly the last run of a Northern 180.

Anyway, why are GC borrowing a unit, when they have one on loan to Hull Trains?

Because it wasn't available for them to do so when they needed it I would guess.

I think GC may now have an ex NT 180, just passed York p5 at 1200 running ECS. Not an ex first one, unless someone put northern's website address on the sides then ripped it off badly. Didnt get a picture or number I am affraid.

They are to be used by FGW. 180103 has been photographed at Doncaster works in the last day or so though - this was the set to retain Northern lettering.
