The Morecambe branch is still strongly operated by Northern Pacer units. These are usually Class 142 units( on Sundays a single set operates the branch for the whole day).Class 144 units are found on many through services to and from Leeds( these services only run to Morecambe on Mons-Sats.( terminating at Lancaster on Sundays) but will be extended again to Morecambe on Sundays from December 2019). See them while you can and Bare Lane is a good location. Will this be one of the last bastions of these units?

Morecambe needs a regular direct service to Preston & Manchester for commuting, not a service to Leeds. Would make more sense to terminate all the Leeds trains at Lancaster, instead running a Morecambe-Preston shuttle. One benefit would be more time for the guard to collect fares: at present the timings are so short that many passengers avoid paying

A friend of mine who uses the Heysham ferry to the IOM from Shipley now has chosen to have a friend transport him by car as there is no direct service. Northerns loss.
My personal view on the Leeds Lancaster service would do more trad particularly in summer if it went to somewhere touristy in the lake district.
Not sure all this has to do with pacers.
