Northern Line set spotting question

Evening all,

Just looking at the timetable for the Northern Line, along with maps of the station layouts, to try and work out the best place to go to try and clear as many sets as possible in one go (likely tomorrow morning). With some services going up one central branch (CX or Bank) and back down the other, and some going up and down the same branch, along with many stations not be laid out easy for nipping between platforms, would anybody have any recommendations?

To try and cover as many sets as possible but also keep the time as short as possible the only thing I can see is to go to Kennington and place myself on either the northbound or the southbound side and then just wait for every set to do a complete return run. I make the longest round trip about 2 hrs 25 mins which would be Kennington-Edgware via Bank, return via Bank to Morden, then back up to Kennington (round trip to High Barnet isn't much difference either). From the look of the station plan for Kennington this would be possible as you can go through the walkways easily enough between the 2 southbound platfroms or the 2 northbound platforms (but not all 4).

If anybody has any other ideas or any recommendations on where to go for the Northern Line I'd be very interested.

If I was doing it myself and the idea was to clear for sight as many sets as possible, that's exactly what I'd do... park myself at Kennington northbound by one of the cross passages for a couple of hours so I could see what was passing on both routes.

Thanks guys, both confirmed what I'd thought. I went to Kennington this morning, I'd worked it out that starting at 06:15 (earliest time I could get there) it would take about 2:25 for all the sets to come through either southbound or northbound. I ended up at the south end of the southbound platforms purely because there were far less people down that end, and it took 2:40 to see everything I think was out. The first set actually repeated after 1:50, and I noted 87 different sets in total. Got to be happy with that

Not a bad mornings spotting, over 80% of the fleet in less than 3 hours

Yes, very happy with that. Think I'll give it a good few months before I try again to get the missed ones, I would imagine there's probably some sets that are out of use long term.
