Northern Interview Help

If theres anyone that does or has in the past worked for northern rail, i have an interview next week and i know from a previous question that they ask me to tell them a little bit about northern. I said a little but they didnt look impressed and i was really unsure as to what exactly they are wanting me to say.

If anyone has any information or help as to things i should talk about when asked this question itd be appreciated

Don’t call it ‘Northern Rail’ it’s not been Northern Rail for a good while now.

They want to hear what you know about the company you want to work for; what’s the company called, how big is the company structure, how many passengers use the company and so on.

Learn about the station you’ve applied for.

I recently sat an interview and they were blown away with my knowledge on that question .
Google is your friends , make notes and revise . Hard work pays off.
There not after any particular answer just that you have spent the time to look. The more facts you tell them the better!

Yep. Changed from Northern Rail to Northern in April or May 2016! As has been mentioned, have a good look at Google. Search information on all of the company’s website. You can get loads of info in a quick 15 - 20 minute search.

Yep just use the internet and learn everything you can about the company past and present

Their values, their customer charter, how many stations they go to, any positive news they had recently or future happenings?

Well done on getting an interview.

Am I in order to ask you what role it is you are going for and when you applied?

I've been waiting for news on 3 x Northern applications that were submitted in March/April but I've not had a whiff of an update and to the best of my knowledge all the applications are still 'live' and haven't been rejected. Covid 19 has made the waiting game that little bit harder!!!!

Company managing director, who owns the franchise (government now), how many stations it operates, areas it covers, new trains, any new initiatives for the company.

Use Google, use the Northern website, lots of information out there.
