My wife and I are going to Harrogate in a few weeks, and are planning a Day trip to York, and possibly an evening trip to Leeds.

BrFares.com suggests the Harrogate - York Duo ticket is ANY PERMITTED, but it's cheaper than the Leeds - York fare, I'm guessing the guard/barrier staff at Leeds may well give me grief?

Can anyone suggest a ticket to use that'd cover Harrogate - York - Leeds - Harrogate if the above isn't valid?

A Harrogate - Church Fenton return allows HGT - YRK - LDS - HGT.
Harrogate to York isn't valid via Leeds.

For two adults without railcards, 2 x £11.40 Harrogate-Micklefield offpeak day returns might work if you don't want to travel in the morning or evening peaks. The York-Leeds train would need to call at Micklefield.

I don't think Harrogate to Mickefield via York is a permitted route? Happy to be corrected though.

Harrogate-Church Fenton Return might suffice, but I would suggest you would need to use a train between York and Leeds that calls at Church Fenton.

NRES suggests that Harrogate-Micklefield is not valid via York

Trains that call at Church Fenton are roughly once per hour and there is a gap about 8pm. You would need to plan the journey accordingly.

Whereas, without prompting, the East Coast website will offer me the Harrogate-Micklefield return ticket with itineraries via Leeds and itineraries via York.
