Hello All.

I've been invited for an interview with Northern for a Depot Train Driver and I'm not sure if I want to do it. I've been weary about doing shift work for years, but the pay looks really good and I'm currently saving towards a house.

Could anyone shed some light on what the shifts are like and if it's a good job?

Thanks

There is a thread on this forum recently about work life balance.

Worth having read as it may help you get an idea of the troubles of shift work on the railway.

I’d say it’s not something to be taken lightly as even with the ideal circumstances shift work can be brutal.
