Northern Delay Repay taking a while

Hi all,

Does anyone know if there if delay repay claims are taking a long time to process at Northern Rail?

I've had one that been sat a couple of weeks. I know it says '20 working days' but I've generally found it to be fairly quick.

I had a season ticket the last few years so I used the service relatively frequently. Haven't needed to claim much in the last six months.

I've one Advance Single journey that was delayed by an hour due to cancellation.

In comparison, another delay repay claim with TPE was processed in a matter of days.

Many thanks!

In those cases, I would just contact customer service and ask

Thanks for your reply.

I didn't want to bother them with what is a trivial matter. Just wondered if anyone knew whether there was a backlog at the moment.

In the past, I've had an email to that effect, advising that it's taking longer than usual.

Any DR claims that I put in for Northern always end up going right up to the max for them to approve, I think that’s on the basis that I am using another TOCs Smartcard so fails any automation that they may have put in

Whenever I do a delay repay from Northern I always ask for the free ticket option instead of ££

I submitted a DR claim to Northern on 21st May, I got an acknowledgement the same day, approval 5 days later and payment 3 days after that.
I was surprised how quick they were.

I received an email today:

"Please accept our apologies for the delay in processing your claim that we received on Mon, 25 May 2026. We are currently experiencing high volumes of claims which is preventing us from assessing your claim as quickly as usual.

We will do our best to assess your claim as soon as possible and you can check the status of your claim at any time by using our online web page at https://delayrepay.northernrailway.co.uk/claim/

Yours sincerely,
Customer Support Team"

I shall have to be patient!

Has it come through for you now?
I submitted one that same day, got that holding email on the 5th, and my complementary tickets arrived Yesterday.
