Northern did use Capita services agency staff until not too long ago, not sure if it's been taken in-house. Have to agree, they are painfully loud. The CS staff are merely repeating the response from someone probably in charge of fleet/maintenance, whose probably never been on an in service train.

Have you tried requesting them to provide passengers with ear defenders, to protect passengers' hearing from excessively loud noise on some of their trains ???
I'm sure that was tounge-in-cheek, but still... I wouldn't be surprised if there are some workplaces where using a tool as noisy as a 150 would require ear defenders!

PIS is very subjective.

On one hand customers want to be informed and want assurance that they are on the correct train and the visuals and audios must be DDA compliant.

Why not do what has been done with LNER and file a Freedom of Information request about the new trains PIS? How it is supposed to be triggered and the announcements are supposed to be configured.

Previous FOIs with LNER have got the on train announcements released publicly and staff handbooks etc.
