Northern Conductors

I applied for two Conductor positions with Northern.

I just received an email saying that I had not progressed to the next stage for one of them. Does this mean they will probably reject me for the other role as well?

I think they just rejected a load of them as there was a high volume. Some vacancies recently have also been 'withdrawn', and I know sometimes they don't make that clear.

May be nothing to do with ablilty tbh, so don't get too downhearted.

Does this mean that they just don't bother to look at a large number of applications if they have to many? does it not seem slightly unfair?

They probably will still look at all of them to be fair, however with so many, the time spent looking at each one will be virtually seconds. Northern, in my opinion are in a small minority of the train companies who genuinely recruit fairly based on ability & experience.


(Unlike trashy Virgin & XC who bin the lot and give the job to their relatives)
