Northern conductor psychometric test

OK so I attended a selection day back in Feb for a trainee conductor role with Northern.
I passed that but couldn't go on the first training course because of a previous booked holiday, so I had to wait for the next one.
Got an email last week saying I'm starting in June and my medical is in a few weeks, I asked about the psychometric test (a friend of mine is a driver and ex conductor and said it was a big part) and the woman at hr said I wouldn't need to do one as I'd passed the assessment and interview :/

Anyone who has recently started with Northern.... did you do the psychometric test or is this the new way of doing things?

You don't do the psychometric test anymore. You just need to pass the medical and then start the course.

I am on week three now and it's awesome! Took me three years to get here but so worth it!

I start in June and I can't wait. My mate who was conductor before training as driver said he loves it and everyone in the railway are like a big family.

The only actual tests you do now are online, there's a verbal and numerical reasoning test, then a personality profile type quiz.

I don't know what the previous tests were like as this is the first time I've applied for a Conductor role, but they still really get you thinking hard.

The assessment day itself consists of a group discussion and competency based interview.

The whole 'day' only lasted around 2 and half hours, but it puts you through your paces.

The mathematical and verbal reasoning tests seemed to have elements that made sure you were fully concentrating though, at first it seemed like something didn't make sense and when reading a second time round it was almost as if it had been worded so that if your just skimmed through then you'd get it wrong, if that makes sense?

Yep I thought the same! You really had to absorb the information in each piece of text and understand it to be able to answer the questions.
