It's likely to be in January they said, maybe the 1st or 2nd week. I asked as I don't have any more holiday to take this calendar year and they said not to worry.

Although we should hear about success or failure at interview before xmas.

sounds reasonable, I'm half glad mine isn't until the end of next week so I won't have as long to wait to hear either way.
I wonder how many they're interviewing for the position, I was surprised to be shortlisted if I'm honest, definitely not going to let the opportunity slip by.

They said they had a full day of interviews yesterday, I was 10.30, and there was an 11.30 appt waiting when I left.

I'd say could be 5/6 a day for 2 weeks at max, so no more than 60 lol!!!!

I just told them from leaving school I didn't want to go on to do A levels as I didn't know what I wanted to be, so got a job in an office to get experience and one thing led to another and told them the 3 companies I'd work for and explained my transition throughout period upto now. Personal life was just telling them about being married having kids what I get upto in spare time etc.

I've no idea what would be a good or bad thing to say, I personally was just honest and transparent with them and if that's not what they're looking for then I'd be disappointed but happy with that assessment.

thanks for the replies i am looking at a career change as i have been made redundant after 15 years in a job not railway related, so would you say it is a good or/bad idea to tell the railway i am a enthusiast , i would really like to work on the railway as i have been intrested in railways all my life.

Just got an email saying I'd failed to progress to the next stage. Gutted, put loads of work into the preparation.

No they didn't say, but I've emailed to ask for feedback. I must have done really badly for them to reject me so early considering they still have 3 days of interviewing to go though.

Make sure you bag this job so at least one of us has some good news!

You may not have, might just not have had enough/right experience, best to get feedback if you can though for your own peice of mind!
I'm going to try my best and draw on my cash handling and procedures experience etc.

I'm an Accounts Manager, I've got 13 years experience cash handling definately mention it as it is obviously important but it wasn't enough for me. Explore your procedures experience they have big rule books you have to learn so they'll appreciate hearing about times you've had to learn/follow strict procedures I would imagine.

Yeah I would agree, I don't have anywhere near as much experience as yourself but I can only put myself across as best as possible, they must see something they like if they've given me an interview.

exactly, they might have just not liked me as a person and thought I was wrong for the job.

I've had a look at the passenger charter but not the social responsibility booklet, yet. I'm doing the majority of going over things now so its fresh in my mind, then might arrive 30-40 mins early and go over it with a coffee beforehand.

Yeah I've got all that, I just hope they ask about it all or give me an opportunity to bring that information forward.

it's a blue door after the noda taxi office which is on the outside, you know where that is?

you have to use phone once inside as it's locked, then someone will come and get you.

Interesting forum this I had an interview in Sheffield today 12/12/2012. The northern team were very friendly and I would love the job, I know it's very competitive mind.

I managed to find some interesting information from my questions: the training is based in Leeds 9 to 5 guessing York would be the same.

and

the role would be offered to start sometime in the new year so not quite immediate. Hope I impressed like bit worried I might have talked to much if that is possible. Anyone know much about the further assesment ,interview and medical?

Well that's me done, just a matter of time now.
I think the further assesment consists of some ticket selling/checking and a Group Bourdon, from what I can gather. Also the medical involves wee on a pot and eyesight.

I was told to expect to wait abit longer with it being over the Xmas period, so a couple of weeks.

Have to get to the Assessment day first lol, I'm going to try to not be too put out if I don't make it that far, with the competition being what it is.

I mean this maybe no consolation but I was told reaching the interview stage is a small achievement in its self with the sheer amount of applications for each role.

Further you need a little bit of luck, with the economy and recession secure full time work is hard to come by so the application managers will have a real variety of applicants, different age groups, backgrounds and experience in a way whatever you say or don't say in an interview maybe irrelevant as the conductor manager may prefer a certain type of applicant before meeting them, and this will vary from station to station.

I have my fingers crossed, keep going with the search!

Exactly, it probs just comes down to the interviewer, they might already have someone in mind before either of us were interviewed, definitely agree with getting to this stage is an achievement alone.
