No, I still haven't heard anything yet after the email to say I passed my assessments back on February 19th. I'm getting a bit anxious as I have a trip booked to visit my parents in another country (haven't seen them in five years) and would hate to be away if I get asked to interview! I was thinking of calling Northern to ask if they know when the interviews will be, but I don't want to come off as being pushy or impatient - I've seen from past threads that people have waited for two months at this stage.

Have you applied for York as well? How long have you been waiting?
No not York, a conductor at Wigan but I've only been waiting a couple of weeks now. I get the impression from posts on here that things can take a while before you hear anything. I'm sure if you get notified of an interview whilst you are away you could contact HR then and tell them you're out of the country. Hopefully all goes well and the two don't coincide. Good Luck anyway!

An idea of timescale for you. It took just over a month from when I was informed I'd passed the assessment to receive the invite for interview. The interview was then 12 days after the invite.

Thanks for the update and it doesn't seem too long considering the number of applicants they must receive. Just glad I'm still in the process so will just keep checking my emails.

Ah, all right, I hope it goes quickly for you, good luck! I've seen on here that some people who applied at the same time as me for other depots moved through the process much faster, so perhaps yours will be the same.

Thank you, that's helpful - I leave in three weeks so hopefully I'll get lucky and hear soon. :)

I’ve been loitering in the background for a while now, but thought I would voice up.

I also applied for York conductor, 24/12/21, got told I passed assessment online 19/01/22, still haven't heard anything since then.
You are not alone in your need to know hopefully we hear something soon!

Hello, nice to finally see someone in the same position - hopefully they're hiring for multiple vacancies!

Your timeline is basically the same as mine. I actually tried to call Northern recruitment yesterday using numbers I'd found in past threads here, but none of them were active anymore. I was just going to politely ask them if they knew approximately when interviews would be held and if they'd be over Teams due to my upcoming trip. I have found an email address for them as well but haven't tried it as that feels like I'm being more of a bother to them!

Anyway, good luck to you and hopefully we hear soon :)

Hello everyone

Just thought I’d post an update, I received an email this week saying they had an update for me but there isn’t really anything changing

Basically it said the same thing as before that I’m on hold for potentially 9 months after interview, will have to reapply if no space comes up and in a second email they said they have no plans to take anyone in for the next 3 months

I keep thinking it’s great to have passed everything and been in a position to be waiting for the space to come but can’t help feel a bit disappointed I’m not in the role yet!

To all the Piccadilly Trainees..The best of luck at the best depot in Manchester! Make sure you listen to the Trainers in the School and the Instructors at your depot, There is a good management team and if you have issues speak to them. Yes Route Learning isn't fun but it is absolutely Vital to the Role. NEVER take shortcuts and if having issues tell your CTM (Conductor Team Manager). Silence helps nobody! and last thing...Its a great job! stick to the procedures you will have been taught and take your time!".. Welcome to Picc!

Route learning is absolutely fine :)

You're getting paid to look out of a window.

You're given details about the route (stations, signal boxes, junctions, tunnels, line speed, signalling system as well as things to be aware of, for example, curved platforms, starting signals, busy during peak hours, right hand dispatch/island platforms etc etc) and go over the route numerous times over a couple/few days before, basically, drawing a map of what you've just learnt over those days and regurgitating the information provided at the start of your route brief.

Enjoy your time route learning, it's fine :)

It took 4 days from me completing the test to getting the email saying I'd passed.
