Yessss

Can I ask what day is pay day? (forgot to ask at interview) and when did you recieve your uniform?....And can you give us a brief description of your first week at Northern.
No problem...
Pay day is every four weeks on a Friday. We got paid last Friday so next one is 18th Feb. You get paid a week in arrears (i.e. when I get paid on 18th of Feb it won't include the week I've just worked up to 18th obviously) - the working week is Sunday to Saturday.
Ok...first week...that was such a long time ago! It might have changed because I joined when covid was still restricting certain things (for example, there used to be a 2 day induction - we did ours several weeks into the course so you might have it within the first week).
The first exam you sit is about working environment (covers things like the notice cases at the depot and the Hidden report - for those who don't know what this is about, it details the minimum rest period between shifts, maximum shift length, max hours worked in a week and max number of days worked in a row and was brought in after the Clapham Junction accident) so I think we started learning for this. The first day or two is just getting everyone settled/introduced etc and being issued with your learning material.
We also had a day or session with the apprenticeship team....I think this was week 1?!
Our uniform was sorted pretty quickly, first or second week. It's fine if bits and pieces don't fit, just send them back and they get replaced.
You keep a daily diary of what you cover and I was going to have a look to refresh my memory but my CTM has it....
