I have been given a couple of Northern Rail Complimentary Rail Travel Vouchers. Each voucher entitles me to one day's unlimited travel anywhere on Northern services.

1. Where routes are shared with other TOCs is the voucher valid on TOCs other than Northern - e.g. from Stockport to MAN ? I'm not sure where else the track access is shared.

2. There don't appear to be any time restrictions, e.g. "not valid for travel before 9.30", so I intended getting the first train (6.09 M-F) out of ILK.

3. Before I start planning my day, are there any restrictions I should be aware of ?

Thanks

I am not sure about any time restrictions, but I do know they are valid on Northern Trains ONLY. They are not valid or Transpennine, Cross Country or any other TOC. So please be careful - don't do what most people seem to do, which is plan some grand day out across half the north of England, then end up having to fork out a fortune when most of the journey involves another TOC and you have already written the date on your Northern voucher, thereby wasting it.

1) No they are only valid on Northern, even when there are also other operators on the route. Plan carefully as there are some routes where Northerns service is a lot more limited than other operators, eg. Helsby - Warrington, Preston - Lancaster.

2) There are no time restrictions, they are valid at peak times

3) No, They are obviously one voucher per person and date must be written on (in pen) before travel. They are valid until the last train, even if this takes you past midnight.
