Northern cancellation

Hello, my wife has a ticket for the 10.43 northern train from Leeds to Chester for Sunday 28th.. This train now looks cancelled can anybody advise me please on her options.

@1874. Full refund is certainly one option. Looks like the 0943 and 1143 direct trains tomorrow are also cancelled.

Thanks for reply. As it’s a northern ticket only, could she get the 10:19 to Manchester Victoria..
Chester has no northern trains now on Sunday, how would she back to Chester from Manchester.

Should be possible to get from Leeds to Chester by travelling from Leeds to Manchester Piccadilly (with TPE), then from Manchester Piccadilly to Chester (with TfW). The key thing will be getting ticket acceptance.

As per Northern JourneyCheck:

Northern tickets may be used at no additional cost on board Transport for Wales services between Manchester Piccadilly - Chester (in both directions) all day. Customers can connect from Manchester Victoria - Manchester Piccadilly using the Transport for Greater Manchester Free Bus service. Please see station staff or information posters for the location of the bus pick up point for this service.

So ticket acceptance in place with TfW. Mind that the roads around Shudehill are dug up and there's no tram service so it might be faster having a walk.

It is still possible to get from Victoria to Piccadilly on the Metrolink tram system just now by first travelling via Exchange Square and then changing trams at St. Peter's Square. Hopefully, the OP's partner will have negotiated Manchester City Centre by now, however, and be well on their way to Chester (and may even have already arrived).
