Just to maybe clear a few things up for you guys, I'm at the very end of the recruitment stage and not once did they reply in the time frame they gave me, however they got quicker and quicker the further in to the process I got.

Good news is they let you know either way through email not post and your email and account on the Northern website are updated at the same time.

I'm in to the final wait to see if I've passed the final interview and can be progressed to medical, it's been 2 days and the next 5 can't disappear quick enough.

Good luck to you all.

Hi

I took the tests on 27th last month and got an e-mail on 29th telling me I'd been successful so hopefully you won't have too long to wait, but the wait is awful I know.

Was this waiting for the results of the assessments or the interview?

We got our results of the tests on the day, then went through to the final interview. So the next decision is whether or not we get a job offer.

Was that the same for you?

Yeah sorry wasnt very clear, I got the results of all tests on the day, then had to wait to see if I passed the interview which I did, they e-mailed me two days later with the good news.

Now waiting to see if I get allocated a training course, e-mail said they would let me know within 4 weeks, that was 2 weeks ago, I'm patiently waiting for more news.

It's five and a half weeks since I heard from Northern to say I had passed the initial assessment for Hull. Since then I have heard nothing at all. I haven't seen anyone else mention they have heard from Hull either. Is it worth an email or should I carry on playing the waiting game?

Hi there...did you hear any more from the Hull application? I did the initial assessment and then attended an interview on November 26th...I think I was one of the first in and in there for around 80 minutes.
My original email inviting me to interview said I would hear either way within 10-14 days which has well gone now, I did email HR last week to see if I had missed anything and got a reply saying it would be up to a further 2 weeks before I hear if I have made the next stage due to the demand. (keeping everything crossed!!)
Not sure if I have missed out or if anyone else has already progressed??

I haven't heard anything passed the initial assessment. Guess I can now assume my application was unsuccessful. Would have been nice for them to tell me though.

Good luck with your application, hope you hear something soon!

Wish I had not tempted fate by posting now as I just found out I am not going any further than the interview stage, I did feel pretty good about how it went so I have asked for some feedback on where I fell short...gutted doesn't cover it :(

Starting with Northern in Jan, as a qualified driver, just wondering what the training program is having transferred in from a FOC?

Just wondering if anyone has been allocated a place in the January training course for Leeds? I got an email to say I had passed the assessments on the 18th of December and was told I would hear about allocations within 3 weeks, but still not heard anything.

I've tried emailing them, but I've not heard anything back. Pretty much checking my emails every 30 seconds. Just wondering if anyone else has heard anything back?

Think the training program for qualified is 2 weeks Induction/PTS (even though you've already got it) then about 3-5 months on traction/routes with an instructor depending on how much route/traction they want you to sign before passing out. Where are you going to be based?

Well I almost passed my medical yesterday, ECG machine was broken so need to go back sometime soon to get signed off as fit, even though I actually start on Monday and passed everything else.

My staff/travel pass turned up today in time for Monday which I was well pleased with.

Don't worry about the medical. Several of the guys I started with did their medicals several weeks after they started.

I was there the same day, passed everything I could and travel pass turned up too. Do you know what the situation is if you want to travel on Transpennine services? Says something about needing a separate residential pass??

See you Monday pal.

We consider our uniform an "unofficial" residential pass. This is because no-one seems sure if you need an additional pass or your northern/atoc cards will do.
