Hi all. Anybody else applied for the skipton post. Got email today saying passed online test. Hopefully can get through the stages with my experiance from the royal navy and nhs

Yep, got an email saying I'm through to shortlisting for interview. So, from the people with experience, does that mean managers interview or criteria based interview? Would we have interview then assessments on the same day? Another agaonising 4 week wait now
Definitely managers interview next, this interview is also criteria based so don't expect any "tell us why you want to be a train driver" type questions. Although they will ask you what you know about the Company.
Then for the chosen few, it's off to DBS for your assessments.

Knowing how Northern operate,i would expect the Wigan drivers job to be pulled.I know of One driver based at Piccadilly who wants to transfer to Wigan so i can see further trainee vacancies coming through for Victoria and Piccadilly early next year.
I just thought i would ask,it said on the application for the Northern trainee positions that you would only be considered for One position at a time?
I see some of the other forum members have applied for various driving positions across the network,did nobody else see this message or have you chosen to ignore it and apply for as many positions as possible?

I will be very disappointed to say the least if the Wigan job gets pulled. I didn't apply for multiple trainee positions as I thought you could only apply for one position at a time.
Reference the multiple applications; I can't speak for anyone else but I contacted H.R and asked the question and was told I could apply for them all (Liverpool/Manchester & Wigan). Simples!

Thats how Northern operate - they advertise for positions externally then they get withdrawn due to "Changes in Business Requirements" (which should really say "vacancy filled internally")
If you want Wigan then your best bet would be to go for Man Vic or Man Picc then if successful put in for a transfer over to Wigan, which would probably take a year or two after passing out. Otherwise Wigan is hard to get into because its relatively small, only 72 drivers based there, and you got drivers at Man Pic or Vic who can't wait to get out of commuting into the City.

I've yet to hear back but judging by your news then obviously they are in the process of getting back to us.

Edd, I applied on 9 October and my interview is on 12 November at Wigan Railway station. It gives me a week of solid prep which I feel should be adequate as I've been doing bits of prep stuff over last few months really. The email said it would be an 'example based interview' but I'm kind of thinking thats a secondary term for the infamous 'structured interview'?

Wigan has about 70 odd drivers, Manchester has 2-3 times that many. For that reason I presume there were less applications for Wigan and hence they were sifted quicker

Congratulations Neil! I am yet to hear anything regarding the Wigan vacancy, fingers crossed, but it's not looking good!

Nope, not at all. I stuck an app in for this one (Live in Lincolnshire) as I wasn't overly confident with my FTPE interview and thought I would try to cover my bases.
Just had the call today from FTPE......I've been provisionally offered a position pending medical.
To say I was ecstatic would not do my feelings justice at all
I will be removing my Northern app shortly....so good luck....I guess some of your competition has just fallen out !

Still not heard a sausage about the Manchester Position.
The E-mail reply, dated 2nd November, stated that I'll receive an update within four weeks so I know there are a few weeks left.
However its not looking too promising if there are people who applied for the same position at the same time getting an interview next week.
My online status just shows 'Visual Comparison Test Complete'.
