Northern 8 carriage service?

At Newcastle this morning (05:40) and quite unexpectedly an 8 carriage service to Carlisle was departing platform 5 - made up of 4x 156’s. Seemed unusual to me, so wondered if this is a regular working or stock movement of some sort? There wasn’t any announcements of it being only the first two/four carriages etc.

Its the units going to Darlington to work around that area for the day.

Carlisle service departed as a 2 car from platform 3 at 05:42.

What you saw was 3D01 Heaton to Darlington, formed of 15648/451/449/453.
