Northern 195 PIS

On a 195 now, which seems to have all the announcements quite muffled, apart from Wigan North Western. Also noticed this on my previous journey down.

Is there any particular reason for this change - seems a downgrade from the previously crystal clear announcements?

Also just had it try and say that Lancaster has a short platform and to move forward - on platform 3!

The volume was turned down since it was getting nigh on impossible for traincrew and passengers to interact and be able to hear each other, especially when the system decided to do the full "remain vigilant" announcement after every stop. At some point, the system randomly lost all stations beginning with W, so they've had to be re-added, but they are at the original volume and not the lower volume, hence the difference. Doesn't sound very professional. As for the short platform announcements, I think there's no hope of them ever being right since they can't fix it after 3 years.

It’s gone from nigh on impossible to talk to nigh on impossible to hear. They’re also far more muffled.

Is the SDO announcement completely random? As far as I’m aware, there isn’t a platform at Lancaster that won’t fit a 3 car 195.

Just rode the 16:15 MCO-LIV on a three car 195. All the PIS screens were off and I can’t recall any ‘Tannoy’ announcements.
