Diagram 1
07:18 Blackpool N to Manchester Victoria
09:22 Manchester Victoria to Blackpool N
11:20 Blackpool N to Manchester Victoria
13:22 Manchester Victoria to Blackpool N
15.20 Blackpool N to Manchester Victoria
17:19 Manchester Victoria to Blackpool N
19:20 Blackpool N to Manchester Victoria
21:22 Manchester Victoria to Blackpool N

Diagram 2
06:53 Blackpool North to Hazel Grove
09:33 Hazel Grove - Preston
ECS to Blackpool
ECS to Preston
14:23 Preston to Hazel Grove
16:33 Hazel Grove to Preston
17:56 Preston to Manchester Victoria
19:28 Manchester Vic to Blackpool North

The timings might be a couple of minutes out as I think this was done before the last timetable change.

If a 180 fails then diagram 1 is likely to be substuited with Sprinters and diagram 2 is likely to remain a 180.

They originally had an 18 month lease on them before they go to East Coast (which would mean they leave us in May), not sure if that's still the case though.

According to Todays Railways UK mag they are now due to stay with Northern untill Dec 2010, as East Coast don't need them untill the May 2011 timetable. Also thanks for the timings.

What the hell's the point in this bit? Even if it's for stabling while they're not required why can't it just be an extension of the other routes in passenger service?

That's what I've been thinking since it happened, especially in the summer you've got a 5 carriage train running empty to Blackpool at a busy period and holiday makers and daytripers squashed up on 142s and 150s between Preston and Blackpool but that's Northern's logic for you.

Somewhere, not in London
IMO, they'd be better perminantly running the Preston - Hazel Grove route, as it tends to be busyer (because it runs through piccadilly), but I tend to use these a lot from Lostock or Bolton into Manchester

I'm sure i saw an Adelante pass my Pendolino just south of Carluke this Wednesday, at around 12:55-13:00 going northbound..

I think it got lost? ;)

I'm assuming it was heading to a depot somewhere, perhaps Polmadie? Although i don't know why it would?

That would be GC's 180105 heading for overhaul and refurbishment at Glasgow Sprinburn Works, it has replaced 180107 which ran back to Heaton...
