Northern 142 on the television

A BBC program I just caught the end of was talking about Eccles cakes, it went on to the importance of the Manchester-Liverpool rail line and showed the presenter boarding a 142 at Eccles. How did that happen? Northern usually rustle up a 156 whenever a camera crew are scheduled to board.

I saw the eccles one and the one after and he spent quite a while on a pacer i think!!!

Was it Michael Portillo? If it was, A 142 features on the title Sequence and in the latest series there is footage of him being interviewed several times inside a northern 142
