The reconsiderations of the North Wales Transport Task Force which met over 2014 have been published.

I regret the task force,Chaired the Wrexham AM, does not see electric wires on the Chester/Shrewsbury line, or Wrexham Bidston according to maps, strangely the Task Force sees Wires From Llandudno to Llandudno Junction as an option.

The 37 page report is here http://gov.wales/topics/transport/rail/north-wales-task-force/?lang=en

The Ministers response is here

Not a bad effort, although it does demonstrate the difficulties of making investment cases for such a diverse area with a limited economy.
Most of the rail proposals are dependant on parallel decisions in England.
I thought the WG response was very non-committal, and just pointed to the WG's own rather vague transport strategy ("rail infrastructure not our patch").
The proposed service plan puts yet another Cardiff service in the timetable, albeit extended to Liverpool via Halton.
The big issues are main line electrification and capacity north of Wrexham for a Liverpool service.
I notice the aborted A494/A55 project is back in the reckoning.
