I am planning a trip to north Wales in a couple of months.
Will be travelling out & staying in either Caernarvon or Porthmadog area for a couple of nights. (Caernarvon is easiest for WHR & also access by bus to Llanberis)
Will then travel from porthmadog to Aberdovey (on a sunday using the only southbound service) - stay at Aberdovey for 5 nights. then on to shrewsbury & stay for 1 night then return home.
Ticket would originate from Potters Bar.
Obviously SVR PBR-portmadog would be fine allowing break of journey at Aberdovey & shrewsbury on the return.
If I decided to stay in caernarvon, the quickest would be to go euston-Bangor on the outward trip.
I assume that a SVR PBR-Bangor would not be valid on the return journey via the Cambrian coast line?
One option would be SVR PBR-Bangor which I could use for return after shrewsbury.
If I get a VT advance to Bangor I could get a SVH single for the return date (the day I leave shrewsbury) so singles Portmadog-Aberdovey & aberdovey-shrewsbury needed.
The North & Mid Wales 8 day flexipass would cover the area I need (& could then split tickets at crewe) but unfortunately my rail travel would be 4 days spread over 9 days rather than 8 required by the flexipass.
Any other options/combinations recommended?
