North Wales Rover

I am planning at trip to North Wales and plan to purchase a North Wales Rover. However on the Arriva Trains Wales website it says you can only purchase it from a Arriva Trains Wales managed station. The problem is I live in Scotland. Can anyone help me to find a solution.

You can purchase it from any National Rail ticket office as it does not require any special ticket stock, however stations outside Wales may not have any stock for the information pack which contains discount vouchers.

(Though in my most recent experience, both packs I was given were out-of-date, without the staff even noticing I must add. It was a good thing that I didn't need any of the vouchers contained inside.)

For local attractions and restaurants, etc, mostly offering 10%.

I've bought North Wales Rovers on several occasions (from Crewe) and never heard about these information packs! Have I been missing out?

I have done more research and I reckon the Ffestiniog Round Robin would be better value for money. The map says tickets are valid to Manchester Piccadilly. My grandad lives at Atherton so would the rover be valid there if I change at Warrington

They might not stock any seeing that Crewe is managed by Virgin.

The most useful thing contained within is a bus map, although the most up-to-date one I was given this time dates from 2012 so some information was wrong, although many were still correct. The vouchers don't really offer much, the most useful ones imo are the heritage line offers which are generally 20% off day tickets.

Ah good point. From Crewe, I'd need a Crewe to Chester ticket regardless, so I'll remember to pick up the rover from Chester next time.

Last time, I forgot it was valid on buses and ended up spending £5 on bus tickets haha. Map would be helpful

Hmm, I think there may be confusion here.

There are two similarly-named products: North Wales Rover (valid for one day, not valid at Crewe) and Explore North Wales Flexi-Rover (valid for 4 in 8 consecutive days on trains, all 8 days on buses, valid at Crewe). Do you mean the one-day version?

The information pack comes only with the latter. The former has none.

Anyway both can be sold from any National Rail ticket office.

Atherton is between Manchester and Wigan. The Round Robin would not be valid at Atherton. The simplest option would be a train into Manchester and then use the Round Robin from there. Getting to Warrington from Atherton would either involve going via Manchester or via Wigan.

Since I will be using the round robin for one day I am limited for time. I just think I would be quicker to go to Warrington (with a change at Wigan), rather than into Manchester then back out again.
