Line is shut now between Chester & Shrewsbury from late evening, last trains Shrewsbury to Chester are replaced by bus, get into Shrewsbury at 2200 & not get into Wrexham by rail replacement bus until 2350 a mere 25 miles away. My wife is caught up in this next Tuesday.

Yes I can see this on the ATW site (but not NRE yet).
Although this closure is sort of expected, at least by us, NR is showing a propensity for closing lines for upgrade at very short notice.
Apart from Shrewsbury-Wrexham, the Newton-le-Willows-Manchester line and the Liverpool Wirral Line Loop (James St-James St) are going to be closed for spells over the summer, also Warrington-Preston.
None of this is forecast in the timetable.
The successive closure of each of the Liverpool underground stations was well advertised and included in the timetables. Why can't they do it for other lines?
They must have known the dates well in advance.
Doesn't help people trying to plan ahead (eg getting to airports).
