As I’m in Norfolk I thought we’d pop down & have a day there on Sunday as 37175, 50050 & D1015 were supporting the home fleet
Never had a Western or a Hoover there.
D400 was awesome as was D1015, D5631, D3935 & D3940

Didn’t bother with the 37’s

Very well attended by ale lovers, enthusiasts & families of all sizes and ages although it did resemble crufts at times but that certainly didn’t bother us.

Very good value at £27.50 too even if we did pay on the day

All staff were very pleasant & the stock was turned out superbly

Even the weather was superb

Top job all at North Norfolk Railway

I think you're doing trip reports so will report that I was on it (with sprog n missus) today.

Staff were very pleasant as you say but I worry about its future if they were demographically representative (in the sense of them almost all being pretty elderly and presumably not immortal). TBH, so were the majority of clientele. This may be a Norfolk thing, I'm not sure.

I'd set off from Holt for logistical reasons but I'm not sure it's the way I'd do it if I were indifferent to them (on a non-gala day at least) - there's much more to do in Holt (including a couple of model railways plus mini trains for kids to play in) than Sheringham so I'd recommend setting off from latter and then spending time in the former which would mean you can return behind a different loco.

Sorry to say this as well, but it's not particularly scenic. That's oversold. Yes, you can see poppies. And yes, you can see the sea, but it's not exactly Dawlish!

Like almost all preserved railways it's very much worth a visit, but I don't think we'll be back any time soon.

Bonus food tip - if driving up from Norwich direction, Hetty's House Tea Room is doing absolutely great sausage and bacon buns for £6.
