Hi guys,

Seeing as NRES Ranger and Rover page is down at the moment, can I ask what good rangers are available for the North East? I will be on an ALR but my friend who is based in York wants to do a day with me. We would be travelling on a Sunday. At the moment thinking about a East Yorkshire Round Robin. But is there anything better?

Thanks in advance.

I had a look at that one but it doesn't seem great so I wondered if there were others that weren't listed. We are looking for one that covers York but if there is one for the Durham/Drlington area then that would be good too!

Tyne Tees Ranger then! That covers that area, along with Hexham, Saltburn etc.

York is always a bit expensive. I think the NE Round Robin is one, but that is quite expensive. Tricky one as on an ALR you would probably want to get as much value out of your ticket as possible but your friend will have to pay more for more extensive coverage.

EY Round Robin is fine but just bear in mind that York - Selby is not particularly well connected later on in the day.

Tyne Tees is good value imo but if your friend comes from York he will have to pay to get to Northallerton.

Yeah, It's a tricky one. The EYRR isn't as appealing as we have both done the Scarbrough line a few times and she specifically mentioned Darlington area so thought I'd have a look. (I'm not too bothered about maximum Value out of my ALR by this point as I have some very intensive days previously.)

There are good value Off-Peak Day Returns from York to Saltburn or Whitby (route Not Via Darlington).
