Normanton-Sheffield Return

Wanting to travel Normanton to Sheffield 19/01/13 and returning the next day why are open returns not available on National Rail journey planner???

The only returns for this flow are day returns because it is a short distance. You either need to buy two Anytime Day Singles or a longer distance period return (e.g. Normanton to Hathersage/Bamford Anytime Return).

So now i just tried Wakefield Kirkgate and now it allows it??

There is an Anytime Return available from Wakefield Kirkgate. The availability of each ticket type varies from station pair to station pair. Some have no day returns, some have no period returns, some have no Off-Peak tickets.

Leeds to Sheffield is valid on Routeing Guide maps DO, SY and YL. As only one line from Leeds to Wakefield is shown, you can use either route. So a Leeds - Sheffield £13.10 Anytime Return Route: Not Via Doncaster may be a good option. Edit: Woodlesford - Sheffield Anytime Return Route: Not Via Doncaster costs the same price as Leeds - Sheffield and so you could also use this.
