Hi all,
Norwich station was a especially busy station today because of the Lowestoft Air Show but we forgot about bashing the specials and went for a bike ride.
Although I have to admit - I didn't cycle anywhere!
Here is the report of my day:
I started by boarding 2S16, the 1155 service from Salhouse to Hoveton & Wroxham on which I met [m=bengley]2457[/m], as we arrived at Hoveton & Wroxham we walked together to the Bure Valley Railway station. It was raining, hard. bengley decided to take the train to Aylsham instead of cycling along side, parting with £10.50!! of his money. I put in the '!!' because he was not the only one to think the price was high!
After parting with his cash he received a text message from [m=yorkie]4[/m] saying that they had missed the 1130 from Aylsham (Bure Valley Railway) and therefore had to catch the next service the 1240 and intercept our train at Buxton. = We boarded the 1240 from Wroxham, meeting the other's at Buxton.
We arrived in Alysham and the cyclists (inc bengley) set off for Norwich via ‘Marriots Way’, I returned to the train for the 1440 towards Wroxham, then stayed on the train for the 1530 to Aylsham. I returned on the last service of the day from Aylsham with diesel loco Number 3 at the helm. I attempted (I failed) to catch the 1726 service back towards Norwich (it was a one minute connection) so I walked into town, had a McDonald’s and caught 2S25, the 1829, surprisingly worked by a 2-car Cl170 carrying a downgraded first class compartment (because it isn’t shown as having 1st in the timetable – but I wasn’t going to argue my point as I didn’t even have a timetable on me.
Anyway I sat down in standard and asked the guard for a over distance excess for the ticket I already held, a anytime day return for Salhouse to Hoveton and Wroxham so I could travel (on the return portion only) further to Norwich. I was the first to be served after she closed the doors… by Norwich, she still hadn’t issued the correct ticket. In the mean time issuing 3 incorrect ones which were cancelled and the one I have here now which has been issued as a Over Distance XS from Salhouse to Norwich where it should have been Hoveton & Wroxham to Norwich.
I am going to find out what the correct fare should have been and if its anything less than £0.60 I am going to complain for compensation because of the hassle caused
Anyway once I got into Norwich I found yorkie and bengley waiting the 1857 and 1900 departures so went over had a quick chat and said goodbye.

I hope the other's will post their stories of the day later - I am so fast as I only live in Norwich
