Hi is this day return journey one where an advance ticket off Loco or Renfe is going to be cheaper than bothering with FIP? Also is this similar to the Malaga AVE line where the regional Avant services are much cheaper than the AVE proper? Thanks

Hi,

I've not been on this line but my experience of FIP in Spain is that, especially, for longer distance journeys, the FIP fares are sometimes amazing value.

I've done Girona to Madrid for £10 and Alicante to Valladolid for £5 (which was only £1 more than the cost of just reserving a seat !)

We're heading back to Spain next year and after much deliberation I have decided to opt for FIP tickets again - rather than choosing the Spanish advance fares.

Going to Toledo as a fare-paying passenger there didn't seem to be any cheap fares (standard fare currently €12.90 each way from Atocha on Renfe).
An excellent place to spend an overnight though, and a good place to buy a medieval sword if you really want one. ;)
The hop on/off tour bus starts in the station forecourt, to save a lot of walking uphill, and circles the city outside the walls first for great photos.
