A chum has asked how to find the price of a Tamworth to Bingham season, which appears not to have a fare set. Is the answer to simply make a request at a ticket office, or is it more involved than that?

For the ticket office it is simple, if there is no weekly fare set, there is no season ticket to sell.

But the ticket office can request a price for the season ticket. A season ticket already exists for Tamworth - Nottingham and Tamworth - Grantham so there is no reason why one cannot be created for Tamworth - Bingham.

Tamworth to Aslockton (not via Birmingham), or Tamworth to Grantham (not via Birmingham), are £140.70 for a week, £540.30 for a month and £5,628 for a year. A season ticket allows you to start and end journeys at intermediate stations on permitted routes between the ticket's start and end points.

Interestingly, there's no season fare for Radcliffe (the station before Bingham) either. Or a Tamworth to Nottingham season is £69.70 for a week, and Nottingham to Bingham is £26.10 for a week, so if travel will always be via Nottingham that combination would be £95.80 for a week (and proportionately more for a month or year).

The flow is set by XC and they don't operate any ticket offices so the problem may be in getting the request passed on to someone who can actually do something about it.

The fares on this line are a bit odd anyway so if a season was created it may well be more expensive than the split option anyway.

Maybe in that part of the world they have people who actually listen to frontline staff, but having previously requested fares where none (of any description) seem to exist (and they still don't six years later), I have no faith that such a request would even be considered, nevermind actually answered.
