I have been searching for 1st advance singles from Euston to Carlisle (direct); not date fixed yet, but have been searching up to 4 weeks in advance. There appears to be none of this ticket type available; only 1st anytime. However Std advance singles have some availability? Does anyone know why this is the case. I thought I'd look another Avanti route for comparison; EUS to MAN has good availability of 1st advance singles; I am puzzled!

Maybe they've greatly reduced the availability of Advance First tickets on London to Scotland services as a result of Standard Premium reducing First Class capacity? I'm guessing they may still be able to offer more of them between London and Manchester because of it being a shorter journey and more trains every hour.

I'm under the impression only coaches J and K will be First Class on 9-cars, but not certain.

I've noticed far less advances from Glasgow to England on Avanti. When there is, they are very expensive.

Are you searching on Avanti's site? It is woeful, the absolute worst ever and I am not joking you - and often doesn't come up with advances fares that do exist. Try LNER or Trainsplit (the latter allows you to pick a seat!).

Hi, I've been using LNER and GWR sites. The latter comes up with 1st anytimes, but the former doesn't. Thanks for the Trainsplit tip; will try that.

Is Avanti's booking site still running on a Trainline backend? It looks like it to me.
