Morning I had a situation that I've never come across earlier in the week.

Earlier this week I had to travel from Darlington to Guildford and return. The tickets were booked through my company booking site. The return ticket was an advance single Guildford to Darlington, which stated "Specified LNER trains and connecting services". It was a card ticket, collected in Darlington, as it involved a cross London journey. The strange thing was that the ticket showed details of my booked train from Guildford to Waterloo but no details of my onward train from Kings Cross. According to the "receipt" I had the correct number of print outs so the details weren't on a missing print out.

It didn't actually cause an issue to me as I just went to the travel centre and they have me a stamped hand written note of my onward reservations.

I travel a lot for work and this is the first time this has happened to me so I was wondering whether other people had had the same issue?

Difficult to say if it was an error by the issuer or a printing error.

And yes many people have experienced issues with tickets issued under the old style TOD (Ticket On Departure) system, which is being phased out in favour of e-tickets.

Were they able to retrieve details of your original reservation(s), or did they just make new reservations?

Is such a ticket still only valid on the (un)specified trains? Or could one use it on another (same operator) train?

It's only valid on the booked services. The customer should still be following the itinerary.

It may be challenging for an inspector to detect what those services are, but that wouldn't make it valid on other services.
