Hello,
I was travelling from Henley to Twyford, and bought disabled railcard return ticket on 23 May. I don't usually use trains.
The officer checked my ticket and I couldn't provide the railcard.
He wrote and took my ticket and told me to expect a letter.
I said I have railcard but I didn't have it.
I applied for railcard a day later and got it 5 days later after the incident.
But this still does not clear me.
My worry is, what happens if the post that I am expecting is lost? Is there a way to check online? Or shall I ask by email?
Please advise. I will also write if I receive the letter.
Thanks.
W

Why would the post be lost, did you give a false address? If you didn't, the chances of it bein lost are fairly small.

No why would I give false address? I gave him my driving license and he copied it. It is correct address but I am a very unlucky guy so it has been 3 weeks, and didn't get anything. :(

it can often take longer than this. Did you qualify for, and apply successfully for a Disabled Railcard after the event? Or some other type of railcard?

I just curious, what happens if the post gets lost?
If the post gets lost and you do not reply then you will get prosecuted in your absence, found guilty and the next you will know is that you will get a far more substantial fine from the magistrates court.
You can untangle it, but it's complicated to do and it's much better if your post doesn't get "lost".

Welcome to the forum!

GWR will write to you asking for your version of events. This letter typically takes a few weeks to arrive but can be longer.
If you don't reply to GWR they will write to you again, this might be a further reminder but could be a court summons.
If the first letter gets lost, there is an opportunity to engage with GWR before the matter gets to court.
GWR are one of the more reasonable train companies to deal with. There is a very small chance that one letter could get lost in the post but the chances of two letters getting lost is practically zero.

Yes, I got it but it doesnt make my ticket valid. I got it five days later, I really didnt know it was a big deal, now I know.
So shall I email and ask GWRProsecutions@gwr.com or just keep waiting?

Yes, the railcard costs money to buy, so it is important you have one - and that the railcard team has assessed you as being eligible for the discount based on your disability.

It's better to keep waiting, just wait for the letter. If GWR review your online booking accounts will they see that you have purchased other Disabled Railcard tickets before the incident where you were stopped?
