A tunnel collapsed on the Luxembourg northern line, between Kautenbach and Clervaux.
This happened during à line possession and there are no casualties.
Repairs are expected to take several months, possibly until mid December.
In the mean time, SNCB units terminate in Clervaux and CFL units take over between Kautenbach and
Luxembourg, with bus service on the damaged section.
For amateurs, there might be some repositioning moves of CFL rolling stock via Arlon, Marloie, and Rivage.

Wow! That's a lot of earth! Last time I travelled through there it was behind an SNCB/NMBS class 55 diesel-electric loco.

Sad to hear that. One of my favourite European journeys, and certainly even more so when it was worked by SNCB /NMBS class 55s.

Last time I did this I think it was in a through coach from Maastricht to Genoa (?). All the way home from the Netherlands without a change.

It’s gone down market in recent years as it’s now SNCB suburban units throughout. A huge downgrade from the previous hauled stock and CFL 3000 locos.

Thanks for letting us know. That's quite a major blockage, isn't it?
Yes it is indeed. The damage must still be assessed, no one knows yet how big is the cavity that developed above the track and why the tunnel wall collapsed. I think the date of december must be considered as "earliest possible in line with current understanding of the event" but with no guarantee...

Sorry to hear that. It had quite a main line feel when I went in 1995 (SNCB?NMBS Class 55 diesel) and again 2014 (CFL electric).

On the other hand, the service is hourly now... Neither SNCB nor CFL wanted to keep trains that need their loco turned around in Luxembourg and Liège Guillemins.
