No letter received- Altered railcard

Hi,

In December 2024, I was given a notice of intention to prosecute for my use of an altered railcard. (Which I am very remorseful about as I know it was wrong)

I did 30 trips travelling from Birmingham New Street to Nuneaton.
But I still haven’t received the prosecution letter.

I’m aware of the potential consequences that I face. But what are the chances that I can possibly negotiate an out of court settlement?

What should I do?

Which train company are you dealing with?
Was the notice of prosecution given toi you when you were stopped? Or was it sent to you in the post?
Did you give the officer who stopped you your correct contact address?

Altering a railcard is a serious offence. That said, most train companies will normally settle out of court if you co-operate with them and haven't come to their attention before but some are harder to deal with than others.

Avanti. Yes the notice was given to me when I was stopped. Yeah I gave the officer the correct contact address.

I’m hoping for the latter.
