No GWR catering due to payment system problems

It seems that I won’t be getting a coffee heading to the West Country from Paddington this evening as all GWR payment systems are out.

Although I have cash the trolley is unable to sell anything and is hiding elsewhere on the train.

This is the cashless future….

they'd probably be better having a donations tin and just giving the cheaper stuff away for a reasonable cash donation.
Donate 3 for a tea and 5 for a sandwich, or something.

some of stock will probably be wasted anyway.

I wonder what their contingency plan was supposed to be?

Is it all GWR trains or just the one your on? All card payments are live so if the EPOS machines are not working there is no point sending the trolley out as no payments will be able to processed and cash cannot be accepted. If they gave stuff away the cart would be empty after a couple of coaches.

The on train announcement suggested it was a general GWR problem rather than just my train.

They also came round with free bottles of water which is good but doesn’t really match a hot drink.

I was also wondering what the contingency plan was but it seems to be not doing food or drinks.
