It has been rumoured for a while, but Bane Nor has now officially confirmed that the the electrification of the Meråker line from Trondheim to the Swedish border will be delayed. The original plan was for it to be ready in december this year, but now the plan is december 2025. A lot of people were hoping that it would be ready for the 2025 Nordic World Ski Championships that will be held in Trondheim in February, but that won't happen.

To be able to work a bit more efficient they will also close the line between Hell and the border from August 15th until February.

A very long closure, but it seems like they will do a lot of other things as well.

Here is the official news (In Norwegian): https://www.banenor.no/prosjekter/a...nder--og-merakerbanen-blir-elektrisk--i-2025/

Summary with the help of Google translate:
It is now clear that the Trønder and Meråker Lines will not be ready for electric trains until December 2025. At the same time, we are pausing train traffic on the Meråker Line from 15 August 2024 to 1 February 2025 to ensure a more efficient completion of the remaining work.

From 15 August 2024 to 1 February 2025, there will be replacement buses between Trondheim and Storlien when the train traffic is paused on the Meråker line.
-At the same time as we are building the catenary system, the Meråkerbanen is getting a facelift with necessary maintenance. Among other things, we will replace culverts and rails, carry out bridge maintenance and clear vegetation, says development director Bettina Sandvin at Bane NOR.
