No connection at barrow.

On a train from Ravenglass to Barrow. Brought a ticket from the conductor, to Lancaster. There was a 7 minute connection at Barrow. Train coming in was 6 mins late. I thought nothing of it, and just assumed the Lancaster train would want an extra 1 minute. No!!!!. Mist my connection, and had to wait an hour. Have traveled all over the country by train. This is just poor customer service, and lack of staff!!!. Thanks Northan. Get your act together.

Still begs the question as to why the 1447 departure from Barrow-in-Furness for Manchester Airport wasn't held, unless its pathing later on in its journey is that tight.

Probably due to obsession with performance metrics, and the WCML portion of the journey is a notoriously congested stretch of track with limited paths, that would likely be the excuse offered. Maybe something about Manchester Piccadilly capacity as well that's another one they often trot out.

Edit: "Iskra" has pointed out a 10 minute dwell at Carnforth, hence the WCML argument falls apart.

I had a similar situation a few years back going the opposite direction, they weren't going to hold the coast train until passengers asked the question and it became apparent there were a few of us.

At certain times of the day, there must be a fair number of persons travelling onwards from Barrow-in-Furness on a supposedly "connecting" rail service, rather than leaving the station there.

Yes, i have had a similar experience. As my train was pulling into Barrow, the coast train was pulling out of its platform!
