There does not seem to be any advance tickets from Euston - Piccadilly for next Saturday (21/2/15). This is really strange as I usually book about a week in advance and always get advance tickets. On the Friday before, there are advance tickets too! Do you think they have not been released yet or all gone?

Don't forget that these trains were only reinstated because the Watford works were cancelled. I wouldn't be surprised if none are ever released this close to the date of travel especially considering that some people who normally travel with Chiltern in the Birmingham - London market would be switching to them considering the bustitution.

It's on the NR and Virgin websites. Always worth checking before arranging weekend travel.

What is on? i thought the works were cancelled?

This there an alternative way to Manchester, maybe going via a different route? It look like London Midland still have advance tickets from Euston - Stoke, then Cross Country to Piccadilly.

The trains are only reinstated because of the cancelled engineering works, but it will be to an amended timetable. I would be very surprised if Virgin release any Advance tickets this close to the date.

I have an advance ticket from London to Manchester on the 10:31 on 16 Feb, a train which no longer exists.

Presumably all these reservations (and quota allocations) have to be transferred from the former trains to their equivalents in the reinstated timetable. Until that's done they can't issue further reservations.

I suspect, given how little time they've got, that there simply will not be any reservations over the weekend, and Advance tickets will effectively become walk-ups for use around the time of booking.

Well, I'm pleased to report that most Virgin services on Mon 16 Feb are now reservable and have Advances available, although quite a few services remain restricted.

Mon 23 Feb still shows the engineering works timetable so all services remain restricted that day.

Virgin are hopeless - I was categorically advised earlier that they had made the decision to restrict all trains on Mon 16 Feb, or no Advance availability, so I purchased a First Anytime Return, and now discover First Advances have miraculously appeared on my desired services.

If it saves enough, buy the latter and refund the FOR, and perhaps write in and argue for a RTV covering the £10 admin fee given the circumstances.

Of course they put some First advances on sale for Monday!

You don't think they will fill four coaches with people (from Manchester, for example) paying £235 single and £470 return do you?

Little different from Birmingham with it's Off-Peak First single and return (£72 and £144 respectively, against Anytimes £115 and £230 respectively).

If anyone is in the market for First Anytime Returns on here, you may find it useful to note that a Falkirk Stations - London Terminals FOR is still £36 cheaper than a Manchester Stations ticket.
