Nitwit rail re-decorates Euston.

Dont know if anyone has been through Euston today but network rail have turned it into one giant advertising board. They've plastered the walls with NR logo's in a crap attempt to refurbish with-out refurbishing. It was bad enough working in the concrete shed before but now it look like a big concrete NR shrine.
Thus far they have covered the reception, lounge and some of the platforms but they have more to put up apparantly

dont think so, got decals on any available pane of glass, the banners that used to have the VT locations now have network rail. this aint a cover up, its a NR wet dream

Also heard they are planning to go on the warpath at all London terminals and take all station staff in house, only TOC staff left will be in the ticket office, New St goes over to this system in April.

I've also heard this as Rail had a article last month on the ECML which said the DfT was looking into bringing Peterborough, Doncaster, York and Newcastle to be managed by Network Rail as is Leeds, Kings Cross and Edinburgh.

Still, will this mean all major stations eventually coming under NR ie Reading, Bristol Temple Meads, Sheffield, Norwich, Stevenage, Brighton and Cardiff?

Bear in mind Rail was also lamenting the fact that the OHL between Haymarket and Carstairs will be redundant when Cross Country take over the Glasgow to ECML services, never mind the fact that the overnight sleeper between Edinburgh and Euston is 90 hauled or it's used during diversions when the overnight sleeper is diverted via the ECML.

All the train dispatchers went over to NR ages ago. Interesting to see who will do the barrier checks then, LM staff do it at the mo.

Yes, but the station reception for Euston is unlikely to be run from MK. I'm pretty sure The Planner was referring to the Ops/Customer Services functions relocating from Melton Street.
Just wondering why NR staff would check tickets at barriers, surely they don't do that anywhere else?

Depends on the terms of their TUPE. I work with a number of ex-MML employees and they still have their privileges, however I *think* they may be from the days of BR.

Nope. Non-safeguarded platform staff at New Street lost everything as will the XC and Virgin staff transferring across to NR at the end of this month.

The professional socialites on the barriers at Birmingham New Street will continue to be employed by London Midland.

Not strickly true, although their will be less trains using it. There will still be at least 1 Mk4 & 91 every day. Scotrail will still run the North Berwick - Glasgow Central trains on this route (even if it is only to position stock) although rumours state that it could be expanded to give Motherwell - Edinburgh more services.

We all still live in hope that Birmingham - Edinburgh will be ran by EMU's again one day, but we do know that Edinburgh - Manchester is currently planned to go over to EMU operation.

I'd have thought the electrification of the Bathgate line (come December) would mean that any swaps would be done that way (and not via Carstairs)

We're veering off topic here, but that's a good observation!. There's enthusiasm for electification (even when the funding isn't available), but I'm often astonished by how much OHLE is unused - and as you say, this will be more unused OHLE.
