Good. At last we can go on and get flights, accomodation etc booked. Guess who's managed to arrange a meeting at Nutts Corner on 17th Feb? ;) Hehehe!

A good idea in principle, but there are Challenges planned for the weekends either side of this event. It would be difficult to manage from a financial perspective; Manchester, Belfast and Cardiff on consecutive weekends would be asking a lot...

I don't think my mother's ever been on a Thumper before  I know my father and brother have though.

My mate and I will be staying at the Youth Hostel on the Donegall Road the night before. Hopefully there will still be at least one Larne diagram 450 class operated by then, as after our meeting we'd like at least one out and back trip on a service train. RailUK Forums meeting afterwards in Lavery's maybe?

If the number of inquiries and requests for booking forms translates into actual bookings the tour will sell out quickly. I recomend booking early. Assuming "executive crank class" is not in use there can be a maximum of 184 passengers on the train

Surely executive crank class will be open? How do I get my reservation for it? This was THE place to sit when the sets were new: the noisiest place in any passenger carrying vehicle ever. Bar none :)

It was even better when there was a door to the engine room which was sometimes lying open.

On 453 at GV on Friday night I remembered the time 453 appeared on the Derry and I left in disgust to go home by bus (there were 21 80 class to chose from and they send THAT)

Now I would pay good money for 453 GVS-Londonderry :D Good times, good memories

Roll on February 18th

I have arranged for the 1725 on the 17th to be 4009 :D (leaves country and changes identity)

Seriously I plan to be on that 1725 myself and hope for a good turnout of Enthusiasts

My mate who will be over with me, plus a Keighley-based crank of my acquaintence will be doing this. The Keighley-based crank in question can be seen flailing out of the 80 class passing Whitehead at the end of yr video of the 141 class shunting the stock at Whitehead before the Silvermines positioning tour.

The MRSI have asked me to reiterate that the tour is filling up fast and it is very likely that pay on the day will not be possible. Anyone who would like to travel and has not booked should do so now to guarantee a seat

From the MRSI
Tickets are now being sent out. Passengers have been allocated specific seats and passengers are asked to sit only in these seats and not to store baggage on the seat beside them as the train will be full

Train leaves Belfast Central at 0855 and Dundalk at 1045. Finishes at Belfast Central at 1605. Detailed times will be distributed on the day. There will be at least 6 photo stops

My ticket arrived beginning of the week.

In 'Executive Crank Class' AKA the luggage compartment? I.e. the closest anyone can ever get to an EE power unit in service without actually being in the engine compartment?
