Hi I am looking for tips on arrival at Paddington on sat morning. The first class lounge appears closed and if it is like the scotrail sleeper although it says I can stay onboard until 7 am, I will probably be thrown off about 6.30am. Early for a Sat morning! Any good early morning cafes near paddington or breakfast /other tips?

Whenever I've got off the train, I've felt bloody freezing! Even when it wasn't even that cold. The difference between the snug interior and the outside world is huge.

I usually toddle into McDonalds and get some porridge to warm me up. Cheap and very effective.

P.S. Isn't this in the wrong section?

I would say it could just about be related to tickets. General discussion could be a tad more appropriate though :)

Are you waiting around for something in particular or going somewhere after Paddington?

There is a very small cafe down by the Norflok Towers hotel which we always use. Not sure what time it opens though as we are never in Paddington before 0900!

Just planning to explore some of London before going back to Swindon about 4pm. Seems a bit early to wander about. Could head up to near enbankmement if weather good

On the contrary, I find early morning 5am-9am to be the most pleasant time to wander around London. The air is clearer and less smoggy. Everyone else is busy going somewhere in a rush, and you can observe the hustle and bustle peacefully. And the atmosphere changes rapidly, from construction workers to suited commuters to uniformed schoolchildren.

Yeah london that early is magic.. Just take a walk down to Marylebone qnd maybe a breakfast at the landmark if you can afford it. If not then a great chance to see these two places..

Thanks for all your ideas, really looking forward to Penzance & London sleeper. Early London sounds good!
